Many may have realized that there is less potential to get a job with one specific professional skill in the 21st century. Soft skills such as Digital Literacy, Public Speaking, and Presentation Skills have played a key role. Thus, let us introduce the ‘Essential Life Skills’ album to our Fountains, to be able to get in touch with trends, and boost your own personal skills.

We will be sharing helpful skills and tips essential for our youths in education, workplace, and other different fields.

We are going to share another Essential Life Skill in coming Tuesday, so please follow our Facebook page and stay tuned so as not to miss out.

What is Self-Study?

Self-study means studying on your own without any help from tutors or being in a classroom. Then what is the special thing about studying alone? Why are we, Study Diary, talking about this now?

The first thing is you can have a better focus when you learn by yourself.

Some are more prone to study with companions, for example, studying in groups of friends or with a tutor (Guide). But are they really good at studies, and capable of recollecting what they have just learned? The answer is ‘Yes.’ However, studying by yourself in peace and quiet can help you not only in achieving your academic goals but also in maintaining a high concentration.

Secondly, organizing skills and management skills can be improved.

As you have to manage your precious time, like what you have to learn one by one, how and when you will take a rest, or when you will set deadlines for each, you can later spend your time efficiently with promising benefits. What is more, you will be able to schedule your further plans perfectly and systematically.

As the last one, self-study can creep up your desire to study harder.

If you only study solely one after another by planning, you may, later on, enjoy it as a hobby without even noticing. This is not such a drawback at all. When you become obsessed with studying on your own, no doubt you will be outstanding, pushing you to further academic achievements. The more you study, the more you will be skilled in what you are learning, and the more you will be well-informed.

We, Study Diary, are now talking about this Self-Study because of such things above.

Is Self-Study effective in reality?

Let’s jump into it!

Is self-study effective?

It depends on you.

If you think you can study better with your companions, that is the right way to study for you.

In contrast, if you think you can study better by yourself at your own pace, again, that is going to be the right choice.

Then which way is more suitable for you?

What if both ways are not working?

To deal with this,

1. First of all, relax and choose two new lessons to study.

2. Study one of the lessons until you get it thoroughly. Record the duration.

3. Then work on the rest elsewhere you can do with others (maybe with your friends or by

joining study clubs). Record the duration, and compare it to your previous record.

Only have to compare these two results? Of course not!

How did you feel while you were studying? Did you encounter any distractions? Think about those questions, and then finally, decide which way is the best for you.

What should I do if none of these are useful for me?

If so, we would like you to devote your efforts to self-study because it is the least distracting type for studying.

If you want some suggestions on how to start self-study, you can reach out to us from Study Diary’s messenger or in the comment box.

How do you study effectively as a self-learner?

Let’s read about it.

Never expect good results at once!

You will not see any progress in whatever you do within a week or two just like when you exercise in a gym. Only oblivious improvement will be returned if you work out just for a week or for a month. However, as time flies by, you will see what you are doing.

The same thing is true for studying. Consistency is essential at any cost.

But what could be the problem if self-study has no positive impact on you after applying it for months and years?

Our suggestion for Fountains is what we usually do.

Draw a schedule. It is best to set timing as you might have to pay extra time for subjects you are bad at, and to include recession.

Share them! Sharing, explaining, or reading what you have learned to others can absolutely make you have a better understanding and lasting recollection.

The next one is taking notes. It will be easier to review them, and helpful for your exams by doing so.

Do not forget to revise day after day.

And the point is to know what you want. “You have to work if you want.”

Another thing is whether you are surrounded by an encouraging society for education or not. Whenever you study or do something else, getting your tasks done or not, results from your ability to converge your senses. That is why you should find supportive surroundings.

Finally, it is really important to have enough rest because not having a reasonable amount of time to rest can decelerate brain development. In these ways, you can store heaps of information in your memory.

How to do ‘Time Management’ for Self-Study?

Only if our Fountains read about last Tuesday 's content will we not be talking much about time management. Just have a look! https://www.facebook.com/StudyDiaryforyou/posts/pfbid025Ldok2mUAjT6czRp3NnqGbd4TqHdX5DBcQjSyDGFmBp3rHf74NpR49tb6g45jqvfl But let us for a bit. Make a list of your tasks, take actions on the most important ones first, and save time. Set small goals as a first thing, then draw a schedule. Check if our drawn schedule is functional or not. Make sure to give full attention whenever you study. We also need to take some break times. Then, you will become intelligent ‘Hypers’ with balanced study hours. We will be coming back with one more Essential Skill. Please follow us on Facebook to stay tuned.
