What is Time Management?
Why is it important?
Then, to what extent is it?

There would only be a tiny amount of people who have never heard the saying “Time and Tide wait for none.” That implies the tides will certainly rise and ebb when it is time to, although a person shouts at the tides like “Don’t rise!” or “Don’t ebb!”. This saying, likewise, shows that, if you appeal to the time as “Please stop!”, it will not stop, waiting for you.

Time management is how you manage your own time not to be wasted, for instance, when and how you do your tasks, how you use your spare time productively, etc.

Then why is it important?

Because, when you manage your limited time, that will

1. Save you more time

2. Benefit you

3. Have you in excess of leisure time to try new things

Besides, you can acquire other advantages as well.

To what extent is it important?

Utterly important! Am I wasting time recklessly these days, or spending it efficiently? We need to examine ourselves. You may find it difficult to pursue ‘Time Management’, and you should also know how to solve them.

So, let’s go on reading about how to figure out potential difficulties and what sort of challenges you might face.

How do we solve them?
What challenges make ‘Time Management’ harder to pursue?

1. Procrastination / Cramming

Memorizing the answers in a rush just before the exam as you were bored in the earlier

time

Working on tasks by the deadlines

Are you usually doing such things?

Now, we suggest you schedule what you will study at which time of day, starting about a week before the exam.

2. Multitasking

Doing multiple tasks at the same time

Both pros and cons can be found in multitasking. However, you can lose concentration on your tasks over time. Thus, you should do your tasks calmly to handle management well.

3. Inability to say ‘No’

Are you the one who does whatever people ask for, with the feeling afraid that you cannot

just say ‘No’?

Please do not hesitate to say ‘No’ when somebody asks you for something you cannot help with. Never let your time be wasted just for those requests.

4. Perfectionism

Are you always thinking constantly to be the best at everything you do?

Learn to be contented and try your best without the expectation to be perfect as every single thing can change under any circumstances with time.

5. Insufficient rest

When you do not have enough rest time, you might feel befuddled in your head, leading easily to damaged memory and frequent high anxiety. However, we can prevent these issues by having eight hours of sleep along with extra time to rest each day.

Well, what we mentioned above are plausible problems in going after ‘Time Management’. Now, let’s look into details to be able to face them professionally.

Ways to improve

Which methods are appropriate to improve our time management? Let’s read about it!

1. Don’t misuse time

Never misuse time. Individuals have those kinds of days being in a sense of disorientation as time just flies by. The only crucial way in managing time effectively is to get your tasks done, so that you will not misuse time scrolling the newsfeed up and down. Also, do not waste time saying “I’ll do it later.”

2. Effective Planning

You indeed need to plan really well to have proper time management. Planning what you will do on which specific day can get rid of procrastination. It can be practised by using a habit tracker or writing down the tasks you have in advance in your notepad.

3. Be focused

It is essential to take one at a time. When you do too much multitasking, you will end up not coming to an end in any tasks, similar to the saying ‘A money couldn’t grab any branches to go through’. Thus, having full focus on one task after another can result in having things done rapidly.

In general, the three methods above can be applied easily. Plus, we would also love to introduce you to a new technique.

The Theory

The most effective management method is the ‘Eisenhower Decision Method’. Why is this method used the most among many other methods? The answer would be the simplicity of the Method. As it can, additionally, help you organize the tasks thoroughly, let’s give it a try right away.

This technique can be divided into four groups

Important

Includes important essays, application forms, and assignments, that have to be a must-done on your own.

Not important

Includes things that are not very important; an example would be socializing.

Urgent

Includes everything that must be done immediately or by deadlines.

Not urgent

Includes tasks that are okay not to be done for now. You can do them in the next few days.

Now, let’s compare these groups.

Based on the Eisenhower Method,

Important & Urgent >>> Do Now

If the tasks are important or in a hurry, we urge you to get up and do your tasks without any delay.

Not important & >>> Delegate

If the tasks are not very important, while in need to be done in time, look for a delegate who can do your tasks on your behalf. For example: When you need to pay the bills roughly immediately.

Not urgent & Important >>> Decide (later)

If the tasks are not in a hurry with plenty of time left to be due, but of importance, you need to decide exactly when and on which day to start your tasks.

Not important & Not urge >>> Cancel

What are you supposed to do with your unnecessary, non-deadline things? Just cross them out from your list.

Instead, you can feel love by texting your boyfriend or girlfriend or watching Foodie Vlogs watering.

Well, we hope you will meticulously examine ‘Time Management’. We will also share another Essential Life Skill next Tuesday, so please keep an eye on our page.
